Art Rethinks Transformation è un tavolo di confronto che vuole offrire un contributo artistico per la costruzione di visioni su questo presente e declinarle al futuro.
ART prova ad essere un punto di connessione tra luoghi diversi ma convergenti. Come è possibile mantenere il tema della “presenza” fondamentale per le arti performative ed applicate e tutto il mondo di connessioni e relazioni che lo alimenta? È plausibile immaginare modelli ibridi tra presenza e connessione virtuale, tali da implementare entrambe le funzioni senza mortificarne una a discapito dell’altra? ART non intende certo dare risposte a tali domande, ma vuole porsi come luogo di sperimentazione e di esperienza
Con ART abbiamo voluto esplorare attraverso le arti, in questo momento di crisi globale e pandemica, le potenzialità del cambiamento. Ne è nata una piattaforma per connettere creativi, esperti e artisti che abbiano voglia di riflettere sul tema del futuro e del ruolo della bellezza nel nostro progetto di futuro.

Art Rethinks Transformation is a discussion tableaiming to offer an artistic contribution for the construction of visions on this present and to apply them to the future.
ART tries to be a point of connection between different but convergent places. How is it possible to maintain the theme of the fundamental “presence” for the performing and applied arts and the whole world of connections and relationships that feeds it? Is it plausible to imagine hybrid models between presence and virtual connection, so as to implement both functions without mortifying one to the detriment of the other? ART certainly does not intend to give answers to these questions, but sets out as a place of experimentation and experience.
With ART we wanted to explore the potential for change through the arts in this time of global and pandemic crisis. The result is a virtual platform to connect creatives, experts and artists who want to reflect on the theme of the future and the role of beauty in our project for the future.

Glacier, Elena Bellantoni, 2020
Glacier, per un’estetica della lontananza è un progetto di Elena Bellantoni che vuole portare dal lontano mondo dei ghiacci un Glacier in via di estinzione nello spazio urbano palermitano.
Oggi molti ghiacciai sul pianeta stanno morendo a causa del riscaldamento globale. Questi colossi di ghiaccio raccolgono la storia della terra da millenni: “I ghiacciai sono manoscritti congelati che raccontano delle storie, proprio come gli anelli dei tronchi d’albero o gli strati di sedimentazione, da cui attingiamo informazioni con cui comporre un’immagine del passato. Immagazzinano la storia delle attività vulcaniche, conservano polline, acqua piovana e bolle d’aria che rivelano la composizione chimica dell’atmosfera di decine di migliaia d’anni fa, come sanno bene i paleoclimatologi: sono importanti fonti di informazione sulle precipitazioni e sulla vegetazione del nostro passato” (A. S. Magnason, Il tempo e l’acqua). Il ghiacciaio – iceberg che l’artista presenta compare nella sua interezza non ne scorgiamo solo la punta ma il suo lato sommerso: la nostra parte inconscia non solo affiora ma viene resa visibile con tutta la sua forza.
Con un’operazione di arte aumentata il tentativo dell’artista è quello di lavorare sulla prossimità visiva, esercitando l’“estetica della lontananza” per cui un ghiacciaio si sposta a sud ed appare nella sua totale bellezza.

Glacier, Elena Bellantoni, 2020
Glacier, for an aesthetic of remoteness, is a project by Elena Bellantoni who wants to bring an endangered Glacier from the distant world of ice into Palermo’s urban space. Today many glaciers on the planet are dying due to global warming. These ice giants have been collecting the history of the earth for millennia: “Glaciers are frozen manuscripts that tell stories, just like rings on tree trunks or layers of sedimentation, from which we draw information to compose an image of the past. They store the history of volcanic activities, they preserve pollen, rainwater and air bubbles that reveal the chemical composition of the atmosphere tens of thousands of years ago, as paleoclimatologists well know: they are important sources of information on precipitation and vegetation of our past” (A. S. Magnason, On time and water). The glacier-iceberg that the artist exhibits appears in its entirety not only do we catch sight of its tip but also its submerged side: our unconscious part not only emerges but is made visible with all its strength.
With an operation of augmented art the artist’s attempt is to work on visual proximity, exerting the “aesthetics of remoteness” whereby a glacier moves south and appears in its total beauty.
